In the spring of 1996, I redid the interior of the car. After first stripping the old, rotting carpet, I completely cleaned out the the old paint and as much rust as I could get. There was only one little tiny spot in the floor that was rusted through. I used an electric drill and a special sanding thing that was like a hard sponge to do all of the removal work. I figure that even with a mask on, I shortened my life by a few years from inhaling so much crap. I then painted the floors wit POR15 and put the new carpeting in. The seat covers were fine but the cushions were pretty bad so I had them restuffed and they look great.
